Dear London Entitling Agencies,
As a supporter of smart growth development, I respectfully urge your support for The Q.V. on the Park proposal at 560 and 562 Wellington Street, London. This highly amenitized multifamily proposal atop a ground-level café space aims to provide an attractive, compact and distinctly urban residential environment for a positive contribution to the core of London through high quality urban design and architecture while still preserving the integrity of the surrounding area.
One of the major challenges outlined in The London Plan, which has received London City Council approval and awaits approval from the Minister, is planning for London’s forecasted population growth of over 77,000 and workforce growth of 43,000 net new jobs between 2015 and 2035. The Q.V. on the Park helps the City respond to this challenge by contributing high quality housing with amenities that are in high demand to Downtown London. With the growing tendency to move back to the urban core, London must provide housing options for all levels of employees to continue attracting a valuable workforce for years to come.
The Q.V. on the Park’s ground-level commercial café space will improve the walkability of the area with a design that takes great care to match the character of the neighbourhood. Existing businesses in the area will also benefit from new opportunities to expand their customer bases to The Q.V. on the Park’s residents, who will be able to access businesses in many cases without the need for a car due to its premier location. Without convenient housing that enables London to live, work and play close by, those evaluating a move to the area may decide to locate elsewhere, and businesses are likely then to follow as a result.
Finally, this proposal will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in new revenues for the City. This revenue will help fund vital services and potentially even contribute to the infrastructure upgrades needed to accommodate London’s evolving landscape through the tax revenue generated. With a location supportive of walking, cycling and public transit routes, this proposal makes sense to accommodate for London’s growth.
Overall, I respectfully urge your support and approval of The Q.V. on the Park because smart growth development such as this cannot wait.
Thank you for your consideration.
